Note however that the basic FTP protocol is not secure, the login information is typically passed unencrypted and can be intercepted.įTP authentication (login) on the WD My Cloud works based on the “User” created on the WD My Cloud. App Passwords are a way to let the blocked app or device access your Google Account. When you use 2-Step Verification, some less secure apps or devices may be blocked from accessing your Google Account. One then configures the IP camera with the User name/password and one configures the FTP path to the share/folder location where the data will be saved. Tip: Don’t create an App Password unless the app or device you want to connect to your account doesn’t have Sign in with Google. If connecting the IP camera remotely then you have to enable FTP on the WD My Cloud (Dashboard -> Settings -> Network -> Network Settings) and then you have to configure your broadband router/gateway to forward the FTP port (usually 21) to the WD My Cloud.
